medorgnolic

Electronic Music

An term used to describe music made on a computer with a rhythmic and repetitive style. e.g. Techno, Acid Techno, House etc

It's derived from the word 'pianolic' i.e. music played by a pianola, in a repetitive & automated way.
In the early 90s, Techno and House was played on modern organs rather than a piano. As there is a big difference between House and Techno, an umbrella term was needed.

Fiends should listen to 'Logikal Nonsense' again by Hawtin on Plus8. Enthusiasts should listen to it for the first time. Most civilians should not.

'Modern Organ-Olic' was too cumbersome and was abbreviated to 'Mod Orgn-Olic'.
'ModOrg' replaced 'Pia' in the word 'Pianolic', to form the word 'Modorgnolic'.
It turns out that 'Pianolic' isn't actually a word in the dictionary, but the early 90s in Melbourne were wild and exploratory times, before the internet gift of easy access to information, so it's forgiven that no one bothered to check.
Made good techno sense anyway at the time, a.k.a. logical nonsense.
The word 'Modorgnolic' became 'Medorgnolic' by clipping the 'o' and dropping an 'e'.
Everything in Melbourne in the early 90s had an e in it.

NB: The word 'Kenavinit' defined in Melbourne in later years held true to these principles, even though the quality of ecstasy and MDMA had fallen significantly.

What time is love? 3 a.m. eternal.
This is not what the KLF is all about.
I love the smell of medorgnolic music in the morning, it smells like, victory!
