Energy Mechanics

The study of how energy moves, transforms, and dissipates across systems. In physics, it's the bedrock of thermodynamics and dynamics, governing everything from heat flow to orbital motion. In social theory, energy mechanics becomes a lens for understanding how enthusiasm, momentum, and motivation flow through groups—how they're conserved or wasted, how they can be harnessed for collective action, how friction dissipates them. A social movement, a startup, a political campaign: all are energy systems where input must be managed, losses minimized, and focused output achieved. Energy mechanics reveals that the problem isn't always lack of energy but poor distribution or premature dissipation.
Example: "The campaign started with massive enthusiasm, but energy mechanics explains why it fizzled: too many meetings, no clear goals, energy dissipated into internal conflict instead of being focused outward."

Shackteâu

A Shackteau is a humble, weather-beaten, structurally questionable shelter located in a spectacular or highly coveted place—Wales, Jackson Hole, Sun Valley, Crested Butte, coastal Maine, the Alps—where the building itself may be worth almost nothing, but the dirt, view, access, and mythology make it absurdly valuable.
In use:
Shackteâu - We thought it was an abandoned shed until the realtor called it a rare alpine Shackteâu with unobstructed views and listed it for $2 million.
