The cruel and unusual manipulation of plants to meet human desires or expectations. Usually in the form of pruning, staking, bending, or abandonment. Also applies to the application of laboratory engineering, pesticide/herbicide, trampling, and hormonal stimulation.

It's hortitorture the way those shrubs have been pruned into the shapes of dancing raindeer.
