To plant false hope in someone by giving empty promises or unrealistic expectations. Similar to “stringing someone along,” but with an emphasis on feeding them hope that won’t grow into anything real.
• Stop hopeseeding me with promises you’ll never keep.
The politician kept hopeseeding the crowd with talk of “change.”
• I got totally hopeseeded by that company... months of promises, nothing delivered.
