friend harvesting

This is the practice of amassing large numbers of virtual "friends" via Facebook or Cheezburger.com or some other social network site. The actual friend harvester may have far more of these virtual friends than he or she has familiarity with of the time to interact with.
Surely Meredith is engaging in friend harvesting, she has amassed a collection of 1050 "friends." I wonder how many has she known personally?

Harvest your friend friend's organs day. You could do this without their permission. This day is on 24th December, so you could give your friend's organs to their family if you want!
Person A: Let me have your organs.
Person B: Why?
Person A: Because it's harvest your friend's organs day.
Person B: Fair.

Friendharvester

An individual who goes on your personal social networking site, and sends friend requests to all the people on your friends list, sometimes claiming they know you when they don't...for the sole purpose of upping their friend count to make themselves appear more well 'liked' than they actually are. They also do this to target your friends as potential 'dating material' because they're too damn cheap to pay for eHarmony.
Mel: Hey Peggy, who is that freak Jim guy that sent me an add request saying that he knew you? He keeps saying gross things to me on my wall!

Peggy: Uh, I don't know that dude...I thought YOU did, that's the only reason I accepted him! Ewwe, he's a dirty friendharvester! Delete, delete, delete!!

Fogey/fogy /fougi/ sl. (early 18C+, orig. Scot) old-fashioned, stuck-in-the mud.
Person with old fashioned ideas which he is unwilling to change: Come to the disco and stop being such an old fogey!
You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue? You fenians forget some things. (James Joyce, Ulysses. Penguin Books,1992. p. 38)
