To say that something is about to happen, then it doesn't. Specifically in sales, to say that you are about to get a deal, but then the deal never actually happens.
"This guy is about to sign up, big deal coming through, $5k+, excited for this one"

In their turn, the Room Two chatters regarded the influx of Oners as a chatastrophe.
