To say that something is about to happen, then it doesn't. Specifically in sales, to say that you are about to get a deal, but then the deal never actually happens.

"This guy is about to sign up, big deal coming through, $5k+, excited for this one"
... nothing happens by end of day....never mentioned again
"Man, you really Chotas'ed that one"
