Canadian literature.

Overall, a literary 'scene' that used to hinge on rural tropes, miserable long winters, hockey eh, and ironic heroism. Yet with the rise of postmodernism and cultural globalization, Canlit has 'evolved' to literature frequently mired in identity, cultural appropriation, sexuality, power politics and other vain pretentious postmodern rubbish.

Canlit is a potemkin cultural effort to establish literary relevance, because Canada is actually a first world resource colony / banana republic, with culture determined by difference, resentment and a lust for reparations. Perhaps Canlit stands as a global signpost for the age of vacuous social media, rebooted CGI films, musical mashups approximating innovative originality, and a general loss of humanist transcendence in the wake of ascendant cybernetic fascism.
Sheldon: "Read anything good lately?"
Whitey: "MmmmHmmm yes some good Canlit!"
Sheldon: "Oh ye soap opera gobshite - to the dust bin now."

OR

Laura: "Professor ShamishBBBlashga just published a real tour de force for Canlit! A booker awaits on the horizon."
Ellen: "Oh geeez eeeeesh - yeah another grant-absorbing pomo wannabe drunk prof leads the way, eh?"
Laura: "He brought some students along for the ride!"
Ellen: "Yes, we all know that, wink-wink!"

narcissistic cannibal

A person who uses others for his or her own personal gain and abruptly ends the "relationship" when the person is of no further use to them. This person is often physically or emotionally draining to be around and seems to become more energetic as others become drained.
Jason: I don't understand why Lauren won't call me back anymore to hang out.
Willis: She doesn't need you to drive her places now.
Jason: I thought we were still friends.
Willis: She's a narcissistic cannibal, she doesn't make real friends. She just uses them up.

got goalkeeper doesn't mean cannot score goal

Originally coined by unknown person of incredible literary talent, made popular by Anthony, this phrase is an analogy often used to encourage people pursuing someone of the opposite gender which is already attached.

This analogy is based on the empirical evidence of soccer matches with positive goals scored (n > 0), despite the presence of a goalkeeper intending precisely to stop that. Similarly, just because a girl (guy) has a boyfriend (girlfriend), doesn't mean that she (he) is automatically unavailable.

A skilled striker may still be able to score a goal despite the presence of a goalkeeper. Of course, the presence of a goalkeeper does increase the difficulty associated with goal-scoring.

This has led to phrases such as "I can't even score an open goal!" or "wow Kenji can score goal even with so many defenders!"

Note: the definition listed above in no way represents the attitude of the author towards the subject
A: "wow that girl is amazing! too bad she's already with that stud Anthony"

B: "what kind of defeatist attitude is that! don't you know, got goalkeeper doesn't mean cannot score goal!"

A: "alright i'm going for it! watch out Anthony!"

kick the cannism

The artful practice of putting things off, again and again, to avoid having to be in a position of responsibility, often an artifact of combined laziness and fear of being blamed.
Civil service bureaucracies are known for having entrenched cultures of kick the cannism, artifacts of cushy salaries and an overarching acceptance of reactive solutions in lieu of a proactive mindset.
