caldo de res
Caldo de res is a mexican soup that consists of beef and other assourtments of vegetables. It isn't really made for any special occasion so it appears almost year round. Oh, and the soup is served hot then hell. Mexican moms have a tendency of making this dish at the worst possible times.

ano del caldo
slang term used by Mexican and Mexican Americans to describe somthing that is outdated and antiquated. Literally (or cliterally) means "year of the stew." The underlying idea is that anyone who heard this would ask "Year of the stew? when was that?" and the reply would be, "so so long ago, no one remembers..."

Boffin
British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
