A birthday wish is a special wish that you make when you blow out the candle on your cake. There is a clause that when you tell someone this wish doesn't come true, a catch is that if you tell a beastie the wish is guaranteed to come true.

Bailey: I told Jacob my birthday wish and now it won't come true.
Brooke: Oh shit that sucks.
Bailey: He is a bestie though.
Brooke: Oh you had me worried, it's ok then.

Birthday wish fishing

When you wish happy birthday to mere acquaintances who are your friends on facebook solely because their birthday is shortly before yours. You do this because you want them to return the birthday wish and increase your birthday wall posts. If their birthday was any other time you would not even consider it.

Loser: Why didn't you wish me happy birthday yesterday? I wrote on your wall last week on your birthday.

Non-loser: I don't even know you loser, you were obviously just birthday wish fishing.

birthday wish rule 

the belief that telling someone what you wished for won't come true. similar to when you wish for something on your birthday before you blow out your candles, and you can't tell anyone what you wished for because it won't come true.

the birthday wish rule applies mostly to the law of attraction.

teacher: "what are you planning to do after high school?"

intellectual student: "if it tell you, it won't come true. birthday wish rule. sorry not sorry."

in this situation, the teacher could end up being a mean person and try to use your aspirations against you. for example, if you want to be a famous pop star, they might bully you and make you lose hope, telling you that you'll never amount to anything. of course, they could also be supportive and become a day one. it's up to you. it may involve risk, but it's up to you. always.

to fail and grow is not something you might always want to avoid.

ringo starr for his 2008 birthday wished for 2 simple things peace and love. To expand on this wish he asked that everyone in the world at noon on July 7th 2008 stop what they are doing hold up a peace sign with thier fingers and say the phrase peace and love
