Tutorial Hell

Something many new programmers experience.

You have gone through many programming tutorials. Many times you haven't finished them. You keep learning new languages. You can maybe program some text adventures or simple web pages, but not anything useful. You don't want to start creating any programs because you feel like it's really bad and not useful to anyone. You keep starting new tutorials and have probably learnt arrays, functions, loops and objects/classes 10 different times in different tutorials and languages. You feel like you know a lot about programming, but at the same time you don't know anything.

Welcome to Tutorial Hell.
I've been in tutorial hell for such a long time now. I need to simply start creating something and not listen to my inner critic.

Tutorial Hell

When you are learning Computer Science and programming but unfortunately you don't understand any of the code you wrote down from the tutorial but it works. Not only that you cannot write your own. It is very hard to get out of this and be able to write your own code. So it is a hell.
You can't just watch a tutorial. You have to add new things that wasn't explained or you will never escape Tutorial Hell.

Tutorial Hell

'Tutorial hell' is typically the stage when beginner programmers come to 'sort of' knowing how to build some simple things, but nothing really complex or scalable. They seem to need a tutorial for every other task they are in need of doing.
The newbie developers we've hired seem to be in tutorial hell and can't seem to code anything useful by themselves.

tutorial hell

Tutorial hell is a state where one endlessly consumes tutorials without ever truly mastering a subject or starting a meaningful project. This is a state of perpetual learning, often marked by the consumption of one tutorial after another without putting acquired knowledge into practice. While tutorials are excellent for grasping concepts, relying solely on them can hinder your progress.
I’ve been in tutorial hell for weeks now, watching endless videos on web development, but I still haven’t built a single project—just consuming knowledge without applying it!

A small piece of information. Derived from the word ken, used often in the scottish language and is synonymous with knowledge.
Person 1: "Hey I don't get this shit. How do you solve this problem?"
Person 2: "I got that one. Give me some kenlets on this assignment and I'll help you w/ that one."

I mean I guess bro

a word of expression to when you give up on comprehending someone's words of ignorance, stupidity, absurdity or are too exhausted to formulate a proper response.

Commonly seen in TikTok comment sections in replies to lazy attempts at humor, overconfidentally incorrect statement, or an over-the-top comment or when someone completely misses the mark on something.
"actually... incorrect statement, hope this helps!"

abandonware

n. software that is no longer sold or supported by the original publisher / developer, often found as free downloads on the internet because it cannot be obtained elsewhere. Not legal, but often seen as morally acceptable because the company that made it is no longer selling the title, nor releasing it as freeware, therefore abandonware is "keeping the game alive", so to speak.
Doom II is not abandonware because id still sells it, while The Incredible Machine is not sold, therefore is abandonware.
