Top definition
A fictitious piece of hardware in your computer that "breaks" and the IT guy has no answers as how to fix it.
Joan: My mouse isn't working I think the batteries are dead in it.

IT Guy: it could be the Thurmond Unit, I had better take the pc and mouse to check it.

He replaces batteries. Returns the unit and mouse and claims the Thurmond Unit was almost gone, but "replaced it". Never telling Joan that it was the batteries.
