The FSM 

Short for the Flying Spaghetti Monster. The one true God, he is made up of a pile of spaghetti with two meatballs in it. Under his noodliness, the holy day is Friday, the preferred attire is Pirate garb, and the preferred head covering is a pasta colander. And instead of saying Amen at the end of a prayer, you say Ramen

The reason people are taller now is because The FSM shows his love by smacking people on the head with his noodly appendages, making people shorter each bonk. Now there are more people, so there are less bonks to go around, so people are taller.
