The Era of the Tans
A period of darkness across the rank and file of the Highway Patrol. A period where management cares more about strict policy adherence than quality officers coming out of the Academy, and increased officer safety through better performing equipment and uniforms. A period where “do as I say and not as I do” has become the policy of all managers above the rank of sergeant.
The era of the tans:
Inclement weather will not “excessivley soil” tans. Therefore, the blue utility uniform is not acceptable.
We know your shift ends at 1500, but it’s 1458 and you’re already in civilian attire. We’ll have a talk with your supervisor about leaving early.
“We know you delivered a baby on the side of a freeway and it was filmed by news media. But you were wearing your blue uniform. Therefore, we’re giving you an MOD.”
