Softnesting

The act of leaving a game open, with your in-game character in a cozy or atmospheric virtual world, usually idle or semi-idle, while your main focus is on other digital tasks — such as chatting, watching videos, or browsing — across different screens.

Commonly done with two or more monitors, softnesting creates a chill digital sanctuary without fully engaging with the game itself. You’re there, but your attention is drifting — multitasking in comfort.
