Premature ovation

The crowd reaction at a live music event when the act on stage deliberately or inadvertently leaves a small gap before the end of a song, but then plays on, people think the song is over and clap / cheer.

The applause inevitably peters out quickly as the song kicks back in.
Jimmy was so drunk that when the band stopped playing for a second he had premature ovation.
