Postcard Syndrome
Postcard Syndrome (noun) / ˈpoʊstkɑ rd ˈsɪndroʊm /
1. A severe psychological condition afflicting real estate developers, tourism boards, and defensive online forum gatekeepers. It is characterized by the delusional belief that a geographic location is permanently and solidly tropical based entirely on a highly curated snapshot of a mature palm tree.
2. The total botanical amnesia that causes a person to look at a sunny photo of the subtropics in July and completely erase the historical memory of the 1977 Miami snowstorm, catatonic falling iguanas, or devastating multi-day advective freezes.

“Don't let his PalmTalk posts fool you; he has a severe case of Postcard Syndrome. He blasts anyone who calls Central Florida subtropical, but he conveniently deletes the photos of his yard looking like a graveyard of brown mush every February.”
“The city council has terminal Postcard Syndrome—they keep planting Caribbean royals along the boulevard just to watch the winter cold fronts turn them into expensive compost.”
