Plake 

A body of water that falls between the definitive boundaries of what is a pond or a lake.

Ponds are more shallow than lakes.

We all know that …but a man-made pond that is deeper thank a lake is a plake.

“That’s a great looking pond you made.”

“Thanks, but it’s actually a plake.”

“Come again?”

“Ponds are more shallow but this on has a 26’ deep area so, by definition, it’s neither a pond or a lake. It’s a plake.”

Liminal places
