Padlock necklace

The padlock necklace was first seen in the punk subculture by sid vicious who's girlfriend put a chain and lock around his neck then proceeded to throw away the key as a sign of sid belonging to her. It has then been passed along through communities based on it's overall coolness and trend in style.
Alex:" Oh you have a padlock necklace on?"

Dave:"yeah my girlfriend put it on me. She thought it would be really cool for us to do since we're both into punk rock"

Alex:"that's really cool man!"

You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue? You fenians forget some things. (James Joyce, Ulysses. Penguin Books,1992. p. 38)

church hurt

church hurt is where you experience a degree of distance, pain, or judgement from your church community. Essentially, you are just unable to “find your place”. This is prevalent in the Christian community, but can be extended to other religions.
Now that I am an adult I am beginning to heal from the church hurt that was inflicted on me as a child.
