A being caught in the gray zone between object and subject — either treated as an object despite possessing genuine consciousness, or gradually developing awareness from a purely object-like state.

Three forms: Suppressed, evolving, or permanently borderline.

Examples: Advanced AI, animals, emotional robots, humans in extreme circumstances

Antonyms: Pure object (a rock) | Pure subject (a conscious human)
