Network Time Protocol
The Network Time Protocol (NTP) is a networking protocol for clock synchronization between computer systems over packet-switched, variable-latency data networks. In operation since before 1985, NTP is one of the oldest Internet protocols in current use. NTP was designed by David L. Mills of the University of Delaware.
NTP is intended to synchronize all participating computers to within a few milliseconds of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).2: 3 It uses the intersection algorithm, a modified version of Marzullo's algorithm, to select accurate time servers and is designed to mitigate the effects of variable network latency. NTP can usually maintain time to within tens of milliseconds over the public Internet, and can achieve better than one millisecond accuracy in local area networks under ideal conditions. Asymmetric routes and network congestion can cause errors of 100 ms or more.34

Short for "Need to Pee". Used mostly in instant messaging.
When you need to pee really bad, it's generally good if it doesn't take that long saying it.

Non Threatening Penis
A straight male friend who will not try to sleep with a female friend.
He is like a brother, exhibiting completely non-sexual behaviour. He's not necessarily a "nice guy", but just a great friend that has nothing to do with sex.
NTP is the male version of the "fag hag", except both parties are straight.

Kayla and her NTP, Derrick, go to the strip club all the time. Every girl should have at least one NTP in her contact list.

In golf - Nearest The Pin.
Most golf clubs hold NTP competitions on one or two par 3s, with entrants stumping up $1 or $2 to make a pool of winnings. The first person to hit the green marks that location and puts their name on a sheet. Anyone who hits it closer moves the marker. At the end of the day, the last person on the sheet (whose tee shot is Nearest The Pin) collects the whole pool of cash money.

Kim: How was golf?
Lee: Pretty rubbish, shot a 95. But I did pick up $200 in the NTP comp. Flushed a sweet 7-iron next to the flag.
Kim: Go you!
