Microfiche

What the hell is a microfiche? Nobody knows!

Please tell us Mrs.Irons!

The term became so popular in a 4th year computing class at Grove Academy that pupils created a chat service so they could speak to their peers way over at the other side of the class (example: Darryl could speak to Osborne!), and they called it Microfiche.
'Mrs.Irons, will microfiche come up in the exam?'

Microfiche

A spool of film containing usually useful information in the form of newspapers or other scholarly material.. Half of the time they are used to look at nostalgic comics from old newspapers. The other half of the time is spent trying to get the spools lined up inside of the machine or otherwise rewinding a reel by hand because you got the film all over.
Jim: hey Bert did you see the December 12th 1992 Dilbert comic?
Bert: Huh, no, how the hell did you see it?
Jim: Microfiche man!

Librarian on intercom: The library is closing in 20 minutes.
Jack: Crap!!! This microfiche is all over the floor!!!
John: Stick your finger in the middle of the spool and just hold it, I'll rewind it
Jack: Dude we are so getting banned from this library!

Microfiche

(v., trans.) The conscious intent to lose someone's contact because they take so long to get together for a date. This individual, while still newsworthy, is a good learning experience but no longer current news, and is therefore relegated to archives.

Microfiching works best with phone numbers from individuals who are old enough to believe that Microfiche still exists in libraries.
After trying to have lunch with the Silver Fox for nearly five years, I microfiched his number and pretended to be uninterested when he finally asked me out for drinks.

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
Some grebo passed with Sabbath playing on his stereo.
The Poppies are at no. 17? God, a grebo band in the charts!
They're playing nu-metal now, bloody grebos!
