1. To pursue an idea that is so far beyond your ways and means it could never possibly succeed. (Usually without much thought beforehand.)

2. To later fail to realise why said idea didn't succeed.
1.Saddam's idea that he could defeat the coalition forces was almost McQuoidian in it's stupidity.

2. Even as the coalition forces entered Baghdad, Saddam was in a state of denial of McQuoidian proportians.
