Mahound

Archaic alternate spelling and pronunciation of Mohammed, held by Muslims as the last prophet of Allah. Historically used in a derogatory context by Christians. He was often incorrectly assumed to be one of several gods worshiped by Muslims, as opposed to a mortal man who is revered, but not worshiped.
