Layoff Buffer

The people who work slower than you. If a layoff happens you can feel confident that you are secure because these people will act as a layoff buffer.

I am not worried about a layoff because Ron still works here and he is my Layoff Buffer.

The group of incompetent, idiots at your workplace who will be laid off before you.

Worker 1: Did you see how bad Brian's latest project has gotten?
Worker 2: No but I can image, the guy is a total layoff buffer.
