Words you can keep
This guy everyone uses the terms of, I think

Which begs the question, WHO'S LAYMAN AND WHY DO PEOPLE USE HIS TERMS
Person 1: Hi, I'm a professional IT developer and I have figured out your problem. It's a hard drive failure. In Layman's terms...
Person 2: Who's Layman?
Person 1: George Layman (1892-1952) was an American philosopher, linguist, and cultural theorist. I'm just citing his lexicon; "General Terms"
Person 2: So, in Layman's terms, my PC's fucked?
Person 1: According to chapter 7 of his book, absolutely!
Person 2: Aww shit
Person 1: That's also a Layman's term!

Layman's Terms

Explaining difficult stuff in an easy to understand manner
For example instead of:
"The geological force, resulted in extreme vibration of the terra surface."

Say it in Layman's Terms:
"There was an earthquake."

layman's terms

To put something in layman's terms is to describe a complex or technical issue using words and terms that the average individual (someone without professional training in the subject area) can understand, so that they may comprehend the issue to some degree.
Instead of saying:

"You need a new piston, valve guides, stator, and counter-shaft balancer"

In layman's terms you'd say:

"There are some internal parts that need replaced"

Teacher: The volume of a container with a gas, when reduced by one half, will double the force exerted by the gas by a factor of two
Student: Uh, I don't understand. Can you give that in layman's terms?
Teacher: When you squeeze a balloon to half it's size, it is harder to squeeze right? This is because the pressure is doubled. Get it?
Student: Uh, Yah!

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
