A whip, traditionally made of hippopotamus hide and used for punishment in parts of the Middle East, especially in Egypt from Pharaonic times until the early 1900s and in the Ottoman Empire.

A kurbash is a hippopotamus or rhinocerus hide whip. It was primarily used as a weapen of torture in turkey, egypt, ect.

Person 1- Tie up that prisoner.
Person 2- Shall we whip him with the kurbash?
Person 1- Yes.
