hide the decline

Share definition Flag
Climate "scientists" deliberately hid the sharp post-1960 decline in temperature proxy data and laughed about "Mike's Nature trick" among themselves.

It's one of many smoking guns extracted from the CRU hack. (Note that it may actually have been a leak and not a hack.)
The phrase itself is now something of a joke, as in "Can't hide the decline, Obama's poll numbers drop again."
