A contraction of “Go” and “On” commonly used in southern dialect. One may find this word frequently used among Munford High School graduates indicating their roots.

A surprised reaction to outrageous news (good or bad). The way it is said indicates whether it is a happy surprised or a bad shock.

A happy "go on" is usually ran together to sound like, "gwan", whereas an upset or shocked "go on" sounds more like, "go...wawn".

Sally: "Guess what, I got the job!"
Mary: "Go on!!!"

often used in ireland dublin area, to cheer on and to embarass, mostly elongated to "gooooooowawn" often proceeds "spin it!" (which is shouted at random to get large groups shouting gooowawn)

(glenn falls and looks stupid)
large group of friends say "goooooowawn!!!" in sequence
