The gayhawk itself has the same characteristics as the traditional Mohawk, but the individual does not have the courage to shave the sides of his head. Rock Chalk Gayhawk
A term derived from the original catch phrase "Rock Chalk Jayhawk", seeking to illustrate the excessively homosexual behavior of those associated with Kansas University. Bill Self's hairpiece, K State tearing down KU's goalpost, and Rick Mangino all serve to manifest this absurdly gay activity.
The KU quarterback was sacked in the end zone and got up with a massive chunk of dirt caught in his helmet, looking like a true rock chalk gayhawk.
"Hey Mom, why are those two men dressed in the blue and red holding hands and skipping through the park"? "Oh don't mind them, honey, they're just a couple of gayhawks".
