Fineoff

Upon delivery of a major project, you are met with, "it's fine." Make no mistake, this is not a sign-off, which would bring "good work" in tow. The Fineoff is a pillar of top-shelf toxic management, where quality is job number 7. But beware, the Fineoff is a harbinger of stormy weather - since the boss didn't take the time to look the first time, they may come back later to say it was wrong. If it was good, you'll never hear about it again.

You: I worked all weekend, brought in 17 new customers, and hit the sales target!

Boss: That's fine, what are we doing this week?
You: I think I just got a Fineoff.

Fineoff

When you work your ass off on a project and receive, "it's fine" in response. Often a harbinger of bad things to come, since the Fineoff comes replete with a healthy serving of "I reserve the right to hate it later." Part of the toxic-workplace series and Selfish bosses spin off.

I worked all weekend on the report, and got a Fineoff when I submitted it for approval.
