Hollywood film studio term for shameless franchise sequels and spinoffs. Developed in the early 2010s by executives hoping to hush criticism that they were incapable of producing anything other than the reboots and remakes that plagued the early 2000s. EU for short.

Star Wars Expanded Universe 

The Star Wars Expanded Universe is defined as the mass amounts of literature, games, comics and other paraphernalia released as a simple tie-in for children primarily in the period up until April 2014. It was then since branded as "Legends" with a newer, better and less bloated canon and new Expanded Universe springing itself from it.

It is generally advised to immerse in the new Expanded Universe over the old one as the newer one will always remain relevant and will cause less fans to go bananas and spoil important movies.

Star Wars fan 1: "Which of the Star Wars Expanded Universe do you like?"

Star Wars fan 2: "The new one of course!"

Star Wars fan 1: "Good answer. The grass is truly not greener on the other side. I heard liking the old Expanded Universe makes anyone be a dick and spoil movies for people."

It also spawned many groups that consistently threaten to spoil and ruin the fun of any new forthcoming media most notably movies such as The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The mass amounts of media released until and subsequently discontinued until 2014. This includes books, comics and video games used for the ultimate purpose of a cash-grab. While it had some decent stuff like Knights of the Old Republic, it had just too many wildly inconsistent ridiculous stories which destroy anything the Original Trilogy accomplishes such as Palpatine surviving Return of the Jedi and Luke Skywalker turning to the Dark Side. It was an ultimately a good decision Lucasfilm ultimately declared a collective retcon toward this even though this sadly resulted in groups aiming to ruin subsequent Star Wars enjoyment by spoiling The Force Awakens and Rogue One through "Comment Raids".

Matt: "I love MLP and the Star Wars Expanded Universe"

Jordan: "Me too. I still mourn for its death and I hate the new fans out there. I'm going to spoil Rogue One for all those filthy casuals!"
