When a person has ghosted someone they have had an intimate relationship with, but then shoots off random text either because they want something from them or is designed to keep them thinking it's not over when it is.
He totally ghosted his wife, but he shoots her a drive-by text once in while when he needs something.

drive-by texting 

A text message sent by someone to try to stir things up, but when a response is made, no further messages are sent.
Similar to a drive-by shooting because after the assailant has disappeared, the victim is left riled up and frustrated.

drive by texter 

A texter who sends a text to a person or group. Usually subject doesn't pertain to any previous subject talked about. Random text usually just whining about something pertaining to their day usually..Doesn't respond to other conversations. They usually ghost when you respond to their plight and disappear
