Claire: “Is Brett not paying for the drinks?”
All: “It’s your shout Claire”
Claire: “Somethings just come up, I’ll have to reschedule, my horse needs me.”

To promise to do Christmas lunch with the team, after a string of cancelled appointments for similar reasons, and then a day out conveniently have a knee surgery pop up 100km in the opposite direction.

Claire: Just got off the phone and I have an appointment with my surgeon tomorrow in Masterton.
Brett: Tell them you will just wait till late next year
Claire: Oh but I can't. Sorry boys
