Dead-body checkpoints
A Slang term for a morbid landmarks—basically a spot marked by a dead body—that helps you figure out exactly where you are and how far you've come on a journey. Picture it as a grim little waypoint: whether it's a frozen climber on Everest, skeletal remains down in the Paris catacombs, or fallen soldiers on a battlefield
"The Everest climber made it to the top of Everest by following all the dead-body checkpoints along the way."
