Chin up is a phrase said to someone who has a desperately bad stroke of luck.

The phrase originated from when lanky blond people teased slighty retarded dark haired people for getting the answer to things wrong.

"I lost my phone! What the n*g*a am I gonna do?"

Term used to assuage a suffering person and encourage them to persist or endure.

To validate and affirm one to press on.

Metaphor to keep one's head up and eyes forward on what lies ahead, opposed to how typically one's gaze tends downward to the ground while in a sullen state.

This will pass, keep your chin up.

Chin up lads. We're almost through this.
