Build-To-Order flat

a type of housing launched by the Singapore government that is built according to demand, which is determined by the number of applicants and their downpayment.
2011. Asia Singapore What is Build to Order HDB 1 Apr (Online). With BTO, HDB announces sites for new flats and interested flat buyers submit their applications within the application period. After the application period is closed, HDB conducts a computer ballot to determine the queue position to book a flat. Once this queue is constructed, HDB invites applicants to book a flat. This exercise is followed by an assessment to determine whether to build the project or not. If HDB decides to go for the project, tenders are invited for the construction of the flats. After the flats are built they are handed over to their buyers.

2013. The Straits Times Scrap executive condos and focus on BTO flats 2 Jan (Online). In May, HDB will offer 4,850 BTO flats in Choa Chu Kang, Hougang, Jurong West, Sembawang and Woodlands.

2014. The New Paper Fewer BTO flats in 2015 21 Oct (Online). Instead, the HDB should phase out ECs and build more Build-To-Order flats to satisfy the queue of newlyweds hoping to get their own place so that they can start a family, as well as the growing segment of single citizens.

2015. My Paper HDB to build more BTO flats in 2016 31 Dec (Online). The number of new Housing Board Build-To-Order (BTO) flats will be ramped up to 18,000 next year to provide for a rise in demand.

The Crud that collects under the keys in a keyboard. Usually more severe in the keyboards of programmers and webmasters as they tend to spend a lot of time at the the computer and thus eat at their desk. Mainly affecting IBM Model M (clicly) style boards.

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
