1) When you sell your audio gear and it's gone.
2) A community of "audiophiles" on a site called audiogon.com
Audiogon forums are full of pretentious snobs with prissy audio systems. Many of these folks have very little technical knowledge and base everything on price. If it's more expensive, it must be better. Too many of these guys fall for proven "audiophile" scams time and time again; only to incoherently insult other members and waste their time with ramblings that have nothing to do with the hobby. While there are a few good members, the overwhelming majority have no understanding of how anything works and the grammatical skills of a 5th grader. Rather sad to be quite honest!
The only good things about the site are being able to display your systems, members who want to help others, and finding deals from reputable dealers. The forums are like a waste bin and we're constantly looking for a bright one. Haven't found one yet. The overwhelming majority are a bunch of delusional hacks with no other interests or hobbies outside of audio. Now we know why a lot of people hate audiophiles...
