system of ascending precedents

a sequence of events wherein each event sets a new, higher standard that will act as a precedent for all subsequent events.

Bob tells funny stories and does spontaneous imitations at work. each one is a little funnier than the one before. his co-worker's expectations track with his performance so that now he has to maintain the gradient of improvement every time he opens his mouth or, - and this is the key- they will respond as if it was less funny than it really is. He has trapped himself in a system of ascending precedents.

attending-level car

an automobile (Mercedes SLR, Ferrari Enzo, Lamborghini Gallardo, etc) costing as much as a house, purchased when the debt-ladden physician-in-training finally obtained his/her license as an attending physician, hence just enough cash to burn for a show car.

This phrase is usually used by a young single male medical student to remind himself of the bright but distant future, when his present involves no presitge, no girlfriends, and no cash-money
med student cire: man, i looked like an idiot when my attending pimped me about 2 biochemical pathyways, 3 rare hereditary diseases, and the brachial plexus, also, i couldnt answer 1/3 of final exam questions today, and 14 skinny blonde chicks rejected my sexual advances.

medical student gnohz: don't worry, when you finally get your attending-level car, the universe will correct itself.

fache-couture

French slang, which translated, means "bull's fashion" but basically equates to "hyper trendy" or overly trendy. Used when a person wishes to express distaste at the latest fashion trend/fad, because it seems that everyone has a certain item of clothing or is wearing it. This term is most frequently heard in Paris but is slowly spreading to other parts of France.
1. That Burberry scarf is so fache-couture.
2. That purple American Apparel hoodie is so fache-couture.

A slang term for GLP-1 medications(like Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, etc.), usually referring to their appetite-killing, weight-loss, or “I forgot to eat” effects rather than the medical details.

Usage:
* Often casual, ironic, or meme-y
* Can imply effortless weight loss, suppressed hunger, or being “powered by pharmaceuticals”

Notes:
Not a brand name—just shorthand for the whole GLP-1 wave. Frequently shows up in online jokes, gym talk, and group chats where people pretend they’re *totally* doing it naturally.
“I’m not dieting, I’m just on that glippy.”
“Ever since the glippy hit, food feels optional.”
“That summer body? Yeah, glippy assisted.”

fauxstalgia

Faux nostalgia. Faking old things in an attempt to recapture the feeling of times gone past, especially of technology that has passed.
Hipstamatic pictures, just like the vinyl-static added to digital recordings, is prime fauxstalgia
