Quite simply the best book ever written. Tells the story of lord and saviours Old Major, Squealer, and Napoleon the pig. Based on the Russian Revolution the book beautifully illustrated the stupidity of humans quite accurately. Not only was it successfully as a sacred text, but there was a cinematic masterpiece of a film. Quite simply a holy and reverent novel that fuels society to press forward and changed the world.
Stephen: Animal Farm is a sacred text, I think it should be the new bible.

2) A book you should read before going away to a liberal arts school if you don't want to get swept up in communist (radical leftist, anti-fascist) propaganda like I did.

I went to college as a bright young woman ready to explore the world. I came our a crushed, brainwashed, shell of a person because I was indoctrinated into a communist student organization my freshman year. I wish I paid more attention in class during high school when they taught us about Animal Farm, because then maybe I wouldnt have ever joined the group or gotten the words "capitalism kills" tattooed across my back.

George Orwell, the chronicler of the totalitarian systems, wrote Animal Farm is a tale of the beautiful, perfect world in which all are equal. The masses rise up to throw off the oppression of a few, only to find soon after in a new form of terror and bondage again.
There are Lenin, Stalin and Trotsky, which appear in the form of intelligent pigs Major, Napoleon and Snowball, but also with names like Mao, Kim Il-Sung or Ceauşescu is coming from the same initial to the same end, and with names like Hitler, Pinochet of course, even if it were not called revolution.
This makes the Animal Farm a fairy tale that will remain current for just as long, as long as there are dictatorships on earth. But that does not concern us here. You might think! Because totalitarian tendencies, albeit on a modest scale, are everywhere, on every continent, in every country. It is always remain vigilant to us, always make sure that the story can not be turned back.
