Asere from the Efik-language (of Nigeria). A greeting of the Afro-Cuban which means, "I salute you"; "I hail you"; "I greet you"

In the present day, it is a common greeting among Cubans. Meaning friend, buddy, homie, dude, etc.
¿Que bola, asere? "How's it going, buddy?"

The bolá within ¿Que bola? Is from the Igbo-language (of eastern Nigeria). This derives from an Igbo greeting given in the morning "Ibola" The literal meaning of bola is "have you woken?" but is used to say "good morning"
