79 series

A capable 4x4 that usually gets nissans out of mud and has more balls than any bloke on the earth
U wont belive it mate. The nissans bogged again. No problems mate the 79 series will pull u out.

79 Series

Much better than a Patrol. Is usually always working and fixing the ute. Nothing is ever in place or sounding mechanically okay.

Never wins the drag races at the traffic lights.

But still will always be better than a Patrol.

79 series landcruiser

An over priced, under powered Toyota ute. Has V8 turbo diesel engine which sounds tough but most 4 cylinder turbo deisel engine utes on the market are much quicker and more capable offroad.

Most owners need a loan to fix it when there are engine problems.

An owner needs to spend at least an extra $50k on it to make it a capable offroad vehicle.

Also known as a Mahindra

When it comes to beach work they need a Mitsubishi Triton in pursuit to pull it out.
"I own a 79 series landcruiser, well the bank does. Balloon payment? What's that!!! Hopefully dad will pay it for me."

"I wish I had a cruiser with a 1HD-FTE not this 1VD-FTV junk."

Owner: " what! I need to replace injectors. How much is that gonna cost me?"

Mechanic: "best part of $10k"

Fogey/fogy /fougi/ sl. (early 18C+, orig. Scot) old-fashioned, stuck-in-the mud.
Person with old fashioned ideas which he is unwilling to change: Come to the disco and stop being such an old fogey!
You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue? You fenians forget some things. (James Joyce, Ulysses. Penguin Books,1992. p. 38)
