Sellotaph

A road side memorial, usually in the form of a wreath or bunch of flowers Sellotaped to a lamp post or road sign to mark to place of a traffic accident in which fatalities occurred.

An amalgamation of the words 'Sellotape' and 'Cenotaph'. (Sellotape is a popular European brand name for sticky backed plastic tape, aka Scotch Tape.)

Maud - "Oh look Bernard, there's one of those Sellotaphs." (pointing at the flowers taped to a post on the side of the road)

Bernard - "Must have been an accident here." (looking at said flowers, taped to a post)

Maud - "Oh yes... In that case stop looking at the Sellotaph and keep your eyes on the road!" (Maud hits Bernard with hand bag)

when a band or something abandons what theyre viewed as and change to a more higher paid stream where they satisfy posers and mainstream jockies and concert invaders who only know 2 or 3 songs claiming to be huge fans

Person 1: Ugh Kings of Leon are such sell outs!
Person 2: Right!, you win a Grammy and get on the radio and then continue with horrible music.

Guy: Hey have you guys heard "Tighten Up" on the radio? I Love The Black Keys, i bet they'll win that grammy.

A sellout in General is anyone who changes from who they originally are to another way of life for the wrong reasons. Or ill motives. But deep inside they want to be what they were born to be, but compromise themselves, Their ideas and character for something that they are not to.... please someone they want to impress.

The philosophical principle that all human acts and behaviors are driven by the instinct to make a profit from selling "a thing." Originally coined after popular Youtuber Olga Key changed her entire channel's format to promote her line of socks.
Example: Get Instagram famous to promote your line of clothing; Start a free podcast with the intention of eventually starting a Patreon with exclusive content.

Once I've made enough fans and supporters I can start selling socks and make a real living!
