While I can understand the author's irritation at their appropriation I can also hear echoes of Divide and Conquer.

Woke means being mindful of your influence and never never ever giving up. Striving for the best world that can be. It means having principles and ideals, not just opinions. A term used for a compelling ideology that suggests that the institutions of society are designed by the powerful to preserve discrimination, and all group disparities are the result of said discrimination. Therefore, society's evils and disparities can universally be explained by the malice of others.
One of the main goals of wokeness and the woke movement is for group equity to be achieved through policy changes and redistributionism.

Or even something like the boys preaching about a social message against big companies while having their show streaming on prime video and having their actors show up in the same type of Amazon ads they make fun of on their Vought YouTube channel.
