When someone gets slapped across the face, in which a highly visible mark is left for anywhere from hours to days. Usually happens when parties clash. Basically getting tagged, only the "ink" is always red.

Guy: Damn Robin, what the hell happened to you?

Homie: I totaled my dad's car. Never seen him so steamed in his life. Got tattooed on the right cheek.

Peeps: Shit, looks like that ink's gonna stick around for a while. Lucky he ain't knock any teeth out your grill.

Unlike the imaginative explanations given, the definition goes way back to early machinists. After inspecting a finished manufactured or repaired part, the Toolmaker/machinist would

1 tighten all parts and screws (Screwed)
2 Use Blueing a blue paint lke stain that stuck easaly to metal (blued) and
3 Put his inspectors mark through the blue paint with a sharp scriber (tattooed)

The part has passed inspection, it's been screwed, blued and tattooed and ready for release from the machine shop.

tantoon

Leptospermum polygalifolium – Tantoon – Yellow Tea-tree. A wide spread and popular garden shrub occurring naturally along a large area of Eastern Australia from southern NSW to far North Queensland. Tantoon is a variable shrub from 1 to 3 metres wide and 3 to 4 metres high. It’s a fast growing shrub ideal for screening. The light green leaves are small to around 8mm long and slightly aromatic. The white flowers grow to 2cm in diameter and often borne profusely in spring and summer. It’s suitable for most soils requiring water during dry periods and suited to a wide range of climates including tropical and cool zones. Polygalifolium often forms a rounded shrub with coppery coloured new growth and the flowers are suitable for floral displays.
