Pandat

A variation of the Hindi word 'Pandit', used informally in the village slang of Uttar Pradesh, a primarily Hindi-speaking state in India. It is used for/by a person belonging to the Brahmin caste.

Pandats take a lot of pride in their caste and usually, they either have great respect in their locality or are infamous as street thugs.

"Drinks tonight?"
"Nah. Pandat ji is on inspection today. Tomorrow?"
