Varleys Law of User Satisfaction simply states that the level of approbation you will receive for any IT work that you undertake is inversely proportional to the level of effort you put into it.
If you spend months working on a complex project and iron out all bugs - you'll get no more than a pat on the back.
On the other hand, knock a quick one off using a simple script and users will bow down before your awesomeness.

Roger had spent half his life perfecting the program and it was now complete, despite the breakup of two marriages, recurring alcoholism, a serious bout of OCD relating to the backslash key and a pathalogical fear of daylight but typical of Varley's Law, all his boss wanted to talk about was how cool the version of Minesweeper that Roger had made in Excel on his lunchbreak was.

various thivs

Various thivs are defined as an unclear quantity of assorted, unrelated food items that are eaten with the hands in a hideously barbaric fashion.

Separate from eating a meal, which is a formally arranged assortment of ingredients on a plate and is ordinarily done by people with self respect, various thivs are individual ingredients eaten by cavemen who don't give a fuck and can range from tortilla chip crumbs to an entire half of a sandwich.

Essentially, it is snacking until you're not hungry anymore and don't bother eating dinner.

Jackie: Did you eat dinner?
Joe: No I just ate various thivs

Vareaolivas

In Mexico and Latin America. Referred to Spanish people who migrated during the recent European crisis and, although originary from small towns, walk around thinking big of themselves as if they were Hernan Cortes himself; despising people from the country that gave them shelter and wrk while in their own they will have none.

That 'vareaolivas' said that all Mexicans look as criminals, while Mexicans were explaining her how to distance-block an iPad.
