The Simpsons

Matt Groening's gift to the world. Originally the family appeared on the Tracey Ullman Show in 1987, and got their own show on the Fox network two and a half years later. The pilot episode would be "Some Enchanted Evening"; however, the animation was so terrible, they had to abort the series premiere for a while. They would abort the entire series if the second episode, "Bart the Genius", also turned out terrible. However, that was a success, and the first episode was switched to "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire", and "Some Enchanted Evening" was switched to the series finale/thirteenth episode, airing in May 1990. "Bart the Genius" was the second episode; however, it was the first episode to use the trademark title sequence (originally it would be "Some Enchanted Evening".) Thus, "The Simpsons" was born!

I watched The Simpsons on Sunday at 7:00 p.m.

Simpsons Math

A pop cultural term for counting in base 8, because each character in the Simpson family was born with four fingers on each hand, which means they would count like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, …, such that all eight-fingered members could do without the symbols 8 or 9.

In Simpsons math, “If Homer and Marge and their four kids looked at two spiders, how would they write and pronounce the total number of their legs?” 20 and “two-zero” rather than “twenty.”

a television show on fox that USED to be funny, about 7 years ago. this is a show that is way past its prime and needs to be cancelled immediately if any simpsons fans are going to have any fond memories of the show, instead of being force fed the current crap every sunday at 8:00pm.

A show that was once easily the best comedy on television but is now a shell of it's former self and easily one of the worst shows on TV.

Todays episodes always resort to guest stars and plots that change to much and make little sense. There often doesn't seem to be a storyline to an episode. Like it just trods along but does nothing.
