Often when asked if you are in a relationship, by saying you have a "domestic partner", it doesn't define your sexual orientation. So, "counter-gender" domestic partner does, plus it can be used by men or women with the same result.
"John, this is my wife, Barbara".
Are you married?
No", I replied, but my (counter-gender domestic partner) will be joining us after dinner

People use this term to refer to someone who owns their body and look powerful but at the same time they aren’t part of certain gender standards or don’t look like a certain gender at all. If a person uses this term it means they are gender envious of your looks and how your gender is figured out.
