a trift describes a certain situation in which two or more parties engage in an unfavorable activity which leads to an argument or mass conflict. The word itself is a composite of the words tiff and rift, ergo 'trift'. As the origin suggests it envelopes the action of a tiff and result of a rift.

Tear gas is fantastic.

When HK citizens smoke too much of expired tear gas during peaceful "riots" , they get addicted to the tear gas with cyanide and say this.

Protesters: We are already leaving! Why are the popo still firing tear gas at us? (Not being able to leave because of the shutdown of MTR stations near the protesting site)
